Synapse Training Program
Requirements & Availability:
Synapse Neuromonitoring is proud to provide a training program for individuals with a Bachelor’s degree who are interested in a career in Intraoperative Neuromonitoring. This program includes comprehensive didactic and clinical training, that when completed provides every student with a thorough understanding of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology and neurodiagnostic testing.
The Synapse training program is highly selective. While a bachelor's degree is required, we seek self-motivated individuals who have a desire to make a difference and display a capacity for compassion towards patients. The ability to work with a team and respond well to change and pressure is critical for successful clinicians.
During the training program, each student will initially spend time in a classroom setting, understanding the clinical concepts, anatomy, and technical aspects of Intraoperative Neuromonitoring. During this primary classroom time, the students will be shadowing experienced technologists in the OR, and will be assigned an experienced primary mentor. Once a basic understanding of neuromonitoring is achieved, the students are then able to work alongside experienced Synapse clinicians, gaining valuable hands-on experience throughout their training.
The ultimate goal of Synapse’s training program is to provide each student with the knowledge and skills necessary for the board certification in intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring, the CNIM. All students and employees of Synapse Neuromonitoring must be either CNIM certified or CNIM eligible prior to working independently of a board-certified trainer. Our rigorous competency examinations ensure that new CNIM or CNIM eligible clinicians have the skills and knowledge necessary for any modality that might be required of them.
The CNIM is the nationally recognized certification provided by ABRET, The American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists.
Synapse Neuromonitoring, Inc. recognizes rapid growth and change within the field of Neurophysiology. Our clinical protocols are constantly evolving to reflect new research and industry standards in IONM.
In order to maintain our position as an industry leader we provide our clinicians with continuous internal and external opportunities for continued education. All clinicians are required to participate in external continuing education programs in line with what is required by governing societies including ASET and ASNM for maintenance of credentials.
